2010 Public Announcements
Demonstration Notices
November 22, 2010
To: All U.S. Citizens
From: American Citizens Services Unit, Consular Section
The
U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa informs U.S. citizens residing in or
visiting Honduras that all demonstration notices will now be posted on
the Embassy website. As the Embassy receives information about possible
demonstrations, the website will be updated. The demonstration notices
can be viewed by way of the following link: http://honduras.usembassy.gov/acs_demnotices2010.html
Even
demonstrations that are meant to be peaceful can become violent and
unpredictable. You should avoid them if at all possible. Since the
timing and routes of marches and demonstrations are always subject to
change, U.S. citizens should monitor local media sources and the
Embassy's website, through the above "Demonstration Notices" link, for
new developments.
If you are going to live in or visit Honduras,
please take the time to tell our Embassy about your trip. If you sign
up, we can keep you up to date with important safety and security
announcements. We can also help your friends and family get in touch
with you in an emergency. Here's the link to the Department of State's
Smart Traveler Enrollment Program: https://travelregistration.state.gov
U.S.
citizens should consult the Country Specific Information for Honduras
and the latest Travel Alerts and Warnings and Worldwide Caution at the
State Department's website: http://travel.state.gov
