TEGUCIGALPA - The Public Affairs Section at U.S. Embassy Tegucigalpa sponsored a “Harmony for Humanity” Hip-Hop Festival in honor of Daniel Pearl World Music Days on October 25 at Tegucigalpa's central plaza.  Daniel Pearl World Music Days is an annual event held in honor of American journalist and musician Daniel Pearl, slain in Pakistan January 30, 2002.

Colectivo El Arte de las Calles, the event's co-sponsor, promotes positive messages of hip hop culture in Honduras.  Together, the Colectivo and the Embassy invited local artists who are masters in the various aspects of hip hop culture, from DJ-ing and MC-ing, to breakdancing and graffiti.  Otny Letras, Mision Urbana, Beat Box Gazu, Docto, Tracey Yang, Tiux Machine, Artilleros del Microfono, and Breakdance from Comayagua performed.

The concert's organizers invited audiences to contribute to a food drive held in support of the victims of recent devastating floods that have affected thousands of people in Honduras.
