New Electronic System for Travel Authorization will not be Applied in Honduras
August 7, 2008
TEGUCIGALPA – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is introducing a new Internet-based program that will allow citizens of countries included in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to be investigated prior to travel to the U.S. The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) program is directed only for citizens of the VWP countries and will allow the travelers to shorten waiting lines at the U.S. port of entry. Starting August 1, 2008, travelers of VWP countries can access the ESTA website https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/ and register their travel.
After January 12, 2009, the program will be mandatory for all travelers of VWP countries and they will have to submit their ESTA application as soon as an applicant begins planning U.S.-bound travel, and not less than 72 hours prior to travel.
For a complete list of countries included in the VWP, visit the web site http://www.state.gov/visa and select Visa Waiver Program.
Honduras is not currently a member of the Visa Waiver Program.
