U.S. Department of State Increases Non-Immigrant Visa Application Fee

TEGUCIGALPA - The U.S. Department of State has announced an increase in non-immigrant visa application fees effective June 4, 2010. The new fees more accurately reflect the cost of adjudicating applications for various visa classes, based on an independent Cost of Service Study completed in 2009. Application fees for the most widely requested visas categories which include business and tourism (B1/B2), student (F1), and exchange visitor (J1) visas will increase from US$131 to US$140.
In addition, the visa fees for Temporary Workers (H), Intra-Company Transferees (L), Extraordinary Ability Applicants (O), Performers (P), Cultural Exchange participants (Q) and Religious Workers (R) will increase to US$150. The visa application fees for Treaty Traders/ Investors (E) will increase to US$309. Visa fees for fiancés/fiancées of American citizens (K) will rise to US$350. All other categories of visa will have an application fee of US$140.
These application fees are paid by all visa applicants, worldwide, with certain limited exceptions, for example, those pertaining to government officials. They must be paid in advance, whether or not the visa is granted.
The new fee schedule will be effective for visa applications/interviews starting Friday, June 4, 2010. The new fees apply based on the day of the visa interview, regardless of when the fee payment is made. An applicant who paid the previous fee but whose appointment occurs on or after Friday, June 4 will have to pay a supplemental feeat any branch of Banco Atlantida. Visa applications are payable in U.S. Dollars or Honduran Lempiras at local branches of Banco Atlantida.
