TEGUCIGALPA - Ambassador Lisa Kubiske met on January 27 with representatives of the Nobel Women's Initiative, including Jody Williams, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997.  They discussed the problem of violence against women, including violence against women human rights defenders.

Ambassador Kubiske said the United States shares the goal of the Nobel Women's Initiative to end violence against women worldwide.  The Ambassador noted that empowering women and providing them with skills training and enhanced economic opportunities is an effective and essential tool to address this serious problem.
