The Immigrant Visa Unit, the Non Immigrant Visa Unit, and the American Citizen Services Unit will be closed on Friday, November 27, 2009. The American Citizen Services Unit will only provide emergency services on that date.
NOTICE:
Effective November 2, 2009 the Non-Immigrant Visa services is reopened. The Embassy’s Call Center will contact those with appointments already scheduled to give new appointment times. The Call Center is scheduling new appointments and applicants will need to follow regular procedures for an interview.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
The U.S. Embassy requests that any person who has an appointment and who feels unwell or otherwise exhibits flu-like symptoms postpone his or her visit to the Consular Section. If you currently have or develop flu-like symptoms, we request you reschedule your appointment free of charge for a different day in the future after you are symptom-free. To reschedule your appointment, please call the Visa Section Call Center by dialing (504) 246-8472 or 800-791-9200 and follow the prompts to leave a message with your full name, current date of appointment and telephone number and an agent will call you back to reschedule your appointment. You do not have to purchase a new PIN for this change. Thank you.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Typical processing time for visa issuances from the time of the interview to receipt of the visa is approximately one week. Please plan accordingly. Same-day service is not typically available. Thank you for your understanding.
