to the Consul: Join us for a special webchat with the Consul General 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 Wonder how to renew your U.S. passport, or document your new child as an American Citizen? Need information on voting absentee in the 2008 U.S. general elections? Have a question about U.S. pensions or taxes? Want to know how to register with the U.S. Embassy and to be prepared in case of a natural disaster? You can get the answers to these and other questions from the comfort of your home during the Embassy’s first ever online webchat on Tuesday, November 20. The Consul General and the staff of the American Citizens Services Unit at the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa will answer your questions. You can post your questions now or ask them during the live webchat from 3 to 4 p.m. on the 20th. To participate all you need is internet access. You can log-in through the Embassy’s webpage or directly at http://webchat.state.gov First time users may register using their own email address or login using: chat@state.gov For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department’s Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov where the current Travel Warnings and Public Announcements, including the Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, can be found. Up-to-date information on safety and security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the U.S., or for callers outside the U.S. and Canada, a regular toll-line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays). Americans living or traveling in Honduras are encouraged to register with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate through the State Department’s travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov, and to obtain updated information on travel and security within Honduras. Americans without Internet access may register directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy or Consulate to contact them in case of emergency.
