As of January 8, 2007, all travelers traveling to or from the United States by air or sea will be required to have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. As of January 1, 2008, this requirement will be extended to all land border crossings as well. This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens who do not currently possess valid passports. If you do not have a U.S. passport and are considering travel to the United States, we urge you to apply early because we expect there will be a surge in demand as the new rules come into effect. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States.
