Agreement
Reached on Sock Safeguards |
| |
|
| |
The
U.S. Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA)
in January 18 took the next step in the safeguard procedure with respect
to Honduran socks that it initiated in August 2007 by informing the
Government of Honduras of its intent to apply a safeguard. Honduras
may now request consultations, which may last up to 60 days. CITA
will then have up to 30 days to decide whether to apply a safeguard,
and if so, what form the safeguard should take. However, CITA has
already determined that, should it decide to apply a safeguard, the
measure would remain in effect until no later than December 31, 2008.
