Property Auction
The General Services Office is preparing for another Excess Property Sale. The auction will commence at the Embassy Warehouse at 0900 on Friday, November 19, 2004. The Warehouse will be closed for routine deliveries from November 15th thru November 19th and will not resume normal services until November 22nd. No pick-ups, deliveries, or other property services may be scheduled during the above period unless approved in advance by A/GSO Bernt Johnson or S/GSO Patty Baide.
Agencies that have signed up for Non-Expendable Property Management services under ICASS and that have excess government property for disposal should advise the Assistant General Services Officer, by memorandum or email, by the close of business November 5, 2004. Disposable property for sale will be accepted at the Warehouse by appointment only on any workday; however, no deliveries for this purpose will be accepted after November 5th.
The GSO will assume that all property provided for the sale is excess as defined in 6 FAM 227.3-3, unless informed otherwise in writing.
Please be advised that on Thursday, November 18, from 0900 to 1600, all property lots to be auctioned will be available for public viewing and inspection. All lots are located at the Embassy Warehouse and any interested buyer is encouraged to view the property for sale. This will be the only time interested buyers, including Embassy employees, may view the auction lots. On the day of the auction, no one will be able to view or inspect the lots prior to or during the sale.
All Locally Engaged Staff and direct hire American employees and their respective family members, who are not directly involved in the auction, can participate. Employees who are successful bidders will be asked to certify in writing that the purchased property is for the employee's personal use.
Additionally, U.S. direct hire employees and/or their relatives who purchase lots must further certify in writing: (1) That the employee will not sell the property during the employee's tour at the post except to another U.S. Government citizen employee who will make a similar written certification; and (2) That, if at the end of the employee's tour, the employee sells such property to persons not having duty-free privileges, the employee will certify, in writing, to the Property Disposal Officer that local taxes and other obligations have been satisfied.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation. |
